Shingles (herpes zoster)

Shingles, or herpes zoster, is caused by the same virus that causes chickenpox - varicella. Once in the body, the virus lies dormant in nerve tufts near the spine called ganglia. When the virus breaks out of its slumber, it travels along sensory neurons and causes pain. It enters the skin where the neurons end, causing a rash, blisters and discolored skin.

Shingles occurs on the chest in about 60 percent of patients, on the head and face in about 15 percent, and in 10 percent of cases the rash is confined to the left or right side of the body.

Between 10 and 15 percent of people who suffer from shingles also suffer from post-herpetic neuralgia (PHN). The nerves of these people are likely to be damaged during the initial onset of shingles, causing a legacy of pain. Early treatment with antiviral medications at the first onset of shingles symptoms can reduce the likelihood and intensity of PHN.

Shingles symptoms

Shingles symptoms require the best shingles treatment for a quick recovery to avoid permanent or severe nerve damage and lifelong pain. Most people have chickenpox in childhood, but after the disease clears, the varicella zoster virus remains inactive (dormant) in the nervous system.

The immune system keeps the virus at bay, but it can reactivate later in life and cause shingles. It is possible to have shingles more than once, but it is very rare to get it more than twice.

It is believed that most cases are caused by lowered immunity and thus protection against infection and disease.

New blisters may appear for up to a week, but a few days after they appear they become yellowish, flatten and dry out. Scabs then form at the site of the blisters, which may leave mild scarring and loss of skin pigment.

Even if there is no rash, the pain may be a constant dull or burning sensation, and its intensity may vary from mild to severe. You may have sharp, stabbing pain from time to time, and the affected skin area is usually tender.

In some cases, shingles can cause early symptoms that develop a few days before the painful rash first appears.

Early symptoms may include:

An episode of shingles - usually lasts about two to four weeks. It usually affects a specific area on only one side of the body, not extending beyond the midline of the body. Any part of the body can be affected, including the face and eyes, but the chest and abdomen (belly) are the most commonly affected areas.

Shingles treatment

Although there is no cure for shingles, prompt treatment can speed the healing process and reduce the risk of complications.

Most people who are treated shortly after shingles blisters appear will experience pain relief within three to five weeks and will also heal from the lesions. In addition, the blisters often do not leave scars.

People with shingles can relieve symptoms by taking cool showers, avoiding direct sunlight and limiting scratching.

Treatment, which can be effective at home

Zynamed Cleanse & Recover capsules and vitamin C is a brilliant first-line defense against shingles. It increases immune function and inhibits the shingles virus. The recommended daily doses are: 1.5 -3 grams of vitamin C.

Dosage: 1-2 Zynamed capsules, take 3-4 times a day after meals. The higher dose is necessary to avoid nerve damage and to defeat the virus. The high dose should be used only for about 5 days. When the pain becomes less severe, the dose can be lowered to 1-2 tablets 2-3 times a day.

Mechanism of action

The active ingredient acts like a cell inhibitor by binding to the outside of the viruses and passing them out of the body through the urine or feces. This helps reduce viral damage. Zynamed has been fortified with selenium, zinc and vitamin C and vitamin A to support the immune system during recovery.

High-dose vitamin B12 is a time-honored treatment for shingles. Vitamin B12 protects and calms the nervous system. The recommended daily doses are: 1 -2 grams of vitamin B12.

Zynamed Care cream 50 grams is a concentrated and soothing cream that combines antiviral properties of CHD-FA, lysine and other plant extracts. (Use according to the package leaflet).

Postherpetic neuralgia (PHN)

Vitamin B12 injections (1ml) once a week are fantastic for preventing nerve damage and protecting nerves. Minamona or Neurobion are good examples of B vitamins that can be taken orally.
